February 13, 2018 : Corpus Christi, TX. – The Corpus Christi Football Club (CCFC) held its official launch and ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center. The ceremony included brief speeches from Club President Dr Kingsley Okonkwo, Head Coach Sammy Giraldo, United Chamber CEO Cleo Rodriguez Jr as well as Councilman Greg Smith who represented Mayor McComb.
The evening began with CCFC Communications Director Hugo Marciales introducing CCFC Club President and Mr. Giraldo. They both outlined and gave their vision for Club.
“We’re looking for the most technically gifted players.” “One day this city is going to be on the map and show what quality of soccer we have.” Says Giraldo
The city of Corpus Christi showed their support with a large attendance of fans. “We are your fans and we want to see you succeed,” says Mr. Cleo Rodriguez President and CEO of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce as well as a Corpus Christi native.
The speeches were concluded by some brief words from Mr. Greg Smith, a Corpus Christi Council Member.
“We appreciate you [Kingsley, CCFC Owner] bringing another level of professional sports here. The health, the lifestyle that it brings, we can’t tell you thank you enough,” Smith said, “It is truly a great day for Corpus Christi.”
Many business owners were there as well to welcome CCFC to the local business community. The evening ended with dozens of photos being taken with the coaches, signed players, and Club ownership.
