Corpus Christi FC organisation this year launched its Player Summer Internship program for its USL2 rostered players for the first time.
The Player Summer Internship (PSI) is a program developed to offer internship opportunities to players who have been registered to to player in the USL2 tournament for Corpus Christi FC. It offers players an opportunity to train and player in the USL2 tournament while also offering these players roles in its organisation and front office to gain hands on experience or obtain college credit while in Corpus Christi, Texas.
For the 2021 season 3 players enrolled for the program they include
Mr Deni Cresto, an Exercise and Sports Science Major from St Mary’s University he joined the Sports Medicine Team led by Dr George Liras as the Strength and Conditioning assistant coach. He performed strength and conditioning exercises such as gym sessions, recovery sessions, speed and agility exercises, mobility exercises, and warm-ups with the USL2 team, including on game days. The primary objective was to optimize performance and avoid injuries within the team.
Mr. Francesco Brunetti, an Exercise Science Major from the University of Evansville. Franchesco was also part of the clubs Sports Medicine Team and was the Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach, his primary responsibilities were the design, implementation and supervision of strength, speed, agility and conditioning programs for the Corpus Christi FC team in other to assure the proper execution of training techniques.
Mr Diego Tapia Fraites, a Business Administration-Sports Management Major from Mckendree University. He worked in the front office of Corpus Christi FC as a Marketing and Business Development Intern, he worked directly with the Club President Dr Kingsley Okonkwo. His primary responsibility was helping the organization streamline the process of game day promotion, club merchandise sales and developing new sponsorship partners.
“We are excited at the success of our Player Summer Internship (PSI) program this year, it was great to see our players doing great things on the field of soccer while also working with our front office to gain valuable experience in their field of study” said CCFC president Dr Kingsley Okonkwo.
The Corpus Christi FC organisation intends to keep the Player Summer Internship (PSI) Program as a yearly program for its players going forward.
