Kingsley Okonkwo, MD

Owner, President

Dr. Kingsley Okonkwo is the Corpus Christi FC USL League Two franchise and Academy President. He received his medical degree from the University College Hospital. He was a visiting physician at the Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease at UT Southwestern University’s Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He received further training as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Pediatric Infectious Disease at Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, New York, and he completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas.

Dr. Okonkwo moved to South Texas in 2016 and worked as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Texas A&M University College of Medicine and was an Attending in Pediatrics at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas. His expertise involves general pediatrics, pediatric cardiovascular diseases, care of children with special health care needs, chronic illness and asthma.

He is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, International Society for Infectious Diseases, International Society for Urban Health and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics.

Business Management Experience

Dr. Okonkwo is the founder and president of Corpus Christi FC – Corpus Christi’s first professionally run soccer club a member of the United Soccer League (USL). He holds a Certification Diploma in Global Sports Management from New York University. He is a member of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.

He is the Founder and President of Next Sports Company LLC, developers of The Corpus Christi Sports Complex, a 45 acres mixed use development consisting of sports facilities, retail, hotel, housing and an entertainment park.

Dr. Okonkwo is the founder of Pedicare Children’s Clinics – a primary care medical facility for children with 4 locations in Texas. He is also the founder of Pedicare Children’s Urgent Care Clinic, an urgent care medical facility for children in the Yorktown area of Corpus Christi, which is the city’s first pediatric urgent care clinic in 15 years.

Dr. Okonkwo is also the founder of Triple Healthcare Services LLC, a property development company which recently developed an 18,000 SQF multi-use commercial facility in the Yorktown area of Corpus Christi, Texas.
