Gabriel Quesada pushed across the game-winning goal off a ricochet from a free kick in the 92nd minute as Corpus Christi FC earned a 3-2 win over FC Cleburne in its inaugural regular season home match Saturday.
The goal was Quesada’s second of the game and moved the Sharks to 2-1 overall in their first season in the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League.
Quesada, who was included on the PDL’s Southern Conference Team of the Week last week, christened the scoring with a strike in the fifth minute and CCFC held the 1-0 lead at the break.
Ian Sagstetter doubled the lead in the 70th, but FC Cleburne notched goals in the 87th and 88th minutes to knot the game as full time approached.
The Sharks made a late run and an attacker was fouled just outside the 16-yard box, setting the stages for Quesada’s game-winner.
Quesada, an Upland, California, native, plays for Indiana Wesleyan and leads CCFC with three goals.
CCFC will host Texas United on Friday May 25 at Dugan Stadium.Gates open at 5:00PM
