Corpus Christi FC are heading back on the road after their fantastic 4-1 victory over Mississippi Brilla, which has not just kept the momentum rolling, but further thrown the Sharks into serious contention for the Southern Conference Playoffs.
Corpus Christi FC faces off with AHFC Royals, six weeks after the two clashed in the 2019 USL League Two season opener for the Sharks, a game in which the Coastal Bend witnessed their local team get off to a flyer in a fantastic 5-2 victory, where Ollie Wright scored a second consecutive hat-trick.
Since Dr. Sebastian Giraldo’s men beat the Royals on opening day, the team has gone onto march and march towards the playoffs, with the Sharks continuing this great form they showed back on the first day.
So, what else do we need to know this time around against the Royals?
HOW DOES THE HISTORY LOOK BETWEEN THE SHARKS AND THE ROYALS?
The Sharks and AHFC Royals have played three times. The two met home and away in last seasons USL League Two campaign. The first outing, Corpus traveled to Houston to face the Royals on May 13, 2018, where the home side were victorious 4-2.
However, the Sharks got their revenge on the Royals when they hosted them at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer Stadium, where the game finished 4-3 to Corpus on July 8, 2018.
Also, as mentioned, CCFC beat the Royals on the first day of their 2019 USL League Two season, winning 5-2, with thanks to a Wright hat-trick and goals from Noah Wagner and Stefan Lukic.
HOW HAVE AHFC ROYALS FAIRED SO FAR?
Since the Royals faced off with the Sharks on May 17, the club have struggled to stamp their name on the Mid South division, registering just the one win, which came against Texas United, as they won 3-1 in Grand Prairie.
Currently, the Royals sit in fifth on six points, 12 behind CCFC.
The changes are expected to ring throughout the squad, with the Sharks also traveling to Houston FC two days after the clash with the Royals.
Elsewhere, there are no fresh injury concerns for the coaches to deal with.
