Corpus Christi FC will play their third home game of the season, in a hope to get back to winning ways after the defeat to the Cavalry. The Sharks will face off with Texas United in a bid to continue their march to the playoffs.
Despite the loss to last season’s Mid South Division champions last week, the squad has remained resilient and positive ahead of this showdown on the Coastal Bend, and head coach Dr. Sebastian Giraldo is incredibly upbeat about the upcoming showdown at home in the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer Stadium.
So, what else do we need to know this time around as we take on the Texas United?
WHO ARE TEXAS UNITED?
Texas United are a fellow USL League Two side, and were founded back in 2017 – the same year the Sharks were created.
Los Tejanos hail from Dallas and finished fourth in their inaugural season, however, they dropped down the following year, finishing fifth in 2018.
United are led by head coach Arez Ardalani.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST SEASON AGAINST TEXAS UNITED?
In the first meeting between Corpus Christi FC and Texas United, the Texans were victorious, beating CCFC 2-4. However, the Sharks avenged themselves in stunning fashion, beating Texas United 1-5 at the AirHog stadium in Dallas days later.
The final game in their three-match series of 2018 ended in a 1-1 tie, meaning Giraldo’s men have netted eight goals in three matches against Los Tejanos.
HOW HAVE TEXAS UNITED FAIRED SO FAR?
Texas United got off to a rough start in this years USL League Two season, losing their first three games, conceding 12 goals, whilst netting just one of their own in this time.
However, the Dallas outfit has since vastly improved, tieing 1-1 with Mississippi Brilla, just five days after their 7-1 thrashing to them. Shortly after, United would go on to beat Houston FC twice within three days, registering a 3-1 win and 2-0 victory over them respectively.
United now sit in fourth, two points behind the Sharks.
Checha Cvetanovic remains sidelined after the injury he picked up against the Cavalry two weeks ago. Nick Tunic is in line to make his first appearance for Corpus Christi FC, after his international clearance was approved.
There are no fresh injury or suspension concerns.
